Premier League Betting Tips
The Merseyside derby is the standout Premier League game this week. Let’s look at the best betting tips for that game and the rest of the action.
Liverpool v Everton: 0-0 14
Local derbies tend to be cagey affairs and this one could be no different. Liverpool are in horrendous form and have lost their last three home games. Everton are playing well on the road, but they haven’t beaten Liverpool in over ten years. They seem to have a mental block when it comes to playing their rivals, but the last two derbies have ended all square and Carlos Ancelotti has the tactical acumen to keep Liverpool quiet. It should be a tight game, so the odds on a stalemate look very attractive.
Southampton v Chelsea: HT/FT Draw/Chelsea 4.5
Believe it or not, Southampton topped the Premier League table in November. Unfortunately, it’s been downhill all the way since then and they now languish in 13th. Chelsea are rapidly moving in the opposite direction under Thomas Tuchel, four wins in a row have taken them into the Champions League places. This game could be tight for long periods, but expect Chelsea’s class to win through eventually.
Fulham v Sheffield United: Fulham (-1) 4.2
For all their struggles, Sheffield United haven’t given up this season. They’ve battled hard with little reward, but Monday’s defeat at West Ham may have been a tipping point. Not only did they lose star defender John Egan to a serious injury, but they seemed to run out of ideas and fight as the game entered the latter stages. Meanwhile, Fulham had a magnificent and deserved 0-2 victory over Everton, that has breathed fresh life into their relegation fight. Expect the Cottagers to build on that performance and comfortably claim another three points here.
Aston Villa v Leicester City and West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur: Draw/Draw 11.60
West Ham are flying and have a genuine chance of bringing European football to the London Stadium next season. Tottenham briefly topped the table just two months ago, but a terrible run of form has seen them all to ninth. However, this is a London derby and despite their woes, Spurs still have some quality players at their disposal. This should be a tight game and a draw seems the sensible bet.
The same could be said of Aston Villa and Leicester City’s encounter at Villa Park. Both sides are enjoying fine seasons and are in the mix for a Champions League place. This looks like another tough game to call, Leicester are slight favourites, but the draw offers the better value. The draw double at 11.60 could be the bet of the weekend.
Whatever your choices are this week, make sure you gamble responsibly! Good luck.
