Premier League Betting Tips
There’s an interesting selection of midweek Premier League action this week , with huge games taking place at both ends of the table. Here are our top Premier League betting tips:
Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton: Draw 3.75
The news of Jose Mourinho’s sacking may mean the odds for this are lowered. Regardless of your opinion on Mourinho, having your manager removed two days before a big game isn’t exactly ideal preparation. In truth, Spurs will likely have one eye on Sunday’s League Cup final and their hopes of Champions League football are virtually extinct. As for Southampton, their own cup final hopes were dashed by a fairly limp display in the FA Cup semi final defeat by Leicester.
So this isn’t exactly a case of two in form teams locking horns, it could be error strewn and fairly low octane, so take the 3.75 (if available) on a point apiece.
Chelsea v Brighton and Hove Albion: Kurt Zouma FGS 18
Picking a defender to be the first goalscorer might seem an odd move but Zouma has been a huge threat from set pieces all season. His five Premier League goals are the most of any defender in the division. What’s more Zouma didn’t start in Saturday’s FA Cup semi final, which probably means he’s in line for a return to the first eleven in this one. Brighton can be vulnerable from set pieces, and with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount providing the ammunition there’s a great chance of Zouma adding to his tally.
Aston Villa v Manchester City: City to win and over 3.5 goals 3.2
It’s not been a great couple of weeks for City. Their quadruple dream is over, and they suffered a shock home defeat to Leeds United. City’s lead at the top of the Premier League is down to just eight points, so for the first time in months there’s a little bit of pressure on them. That could spell trouble for Aston Villa, who since Jack Grealish’s injury have been in free fall. Villa have little left to play for and that could be exactly what City need.
Beware the wounded beast. City may be feeling frustrated and ready to take out their anger on someone. Villa could be in for a tough evening, so the 3.2 on offer for a City to win and over 3.5 goals seems excellent value.
Leicester City v West Bromwich Albion: Iheanacho FGS and Leicester win 5.5
Jamie Vardy has scored once this year, Kelechi Iheanacho has scored 10 goals in eight games. Yet for some strange reason Jamie Vardy still commands the shortest price for Leicester City first goalscorer. You can take advantage of that anomaly this week when the Foxes take on lowly West Brom. The Baggies have shown signs of life recently, but still face a huge uphill task to survive in the Premier League. With the Foxes still needing points to be sure of a spot in next season’s Champion League, this looks like a banker home win.
Bet on the form horse in this one. Iheanacho is a great price to score first, especially if combined with a Leicester victory.
